Method (educational estimate, not an audited footprint): electricity × 12 × 0.716 kg CO₂/kWh (CEA FY2022-23 grid factor ↗); car km × 52 × 0.170 kg/km (average petrol car) and 246 g per passenger-km for domestic flights, assuming 1,000 km per flight (UK DESNZ 2022 factors via Our World in Data ↗); food per person per day of 2.05 / 2.4 / 3.3 kg CO₂e for plant-based / mixed / meat-heavy Indian diets (Green et al. 2018, Indian dietary patterns ↗). India average: 2.2 t CO₂ per person in 2024 (Global Carbon Budget via OWID ↗). Credit prices vary widely by project; the price is one you set, not a quote.

What these figures mean
Greenfolio displays annual Scope 1 and Scope 2 values reported by each company in the linked NSE BRSR, annual report or sustainability report. Greenfolio transcribes these figures; it does not measure the emissions or independently audit the company disclosure. A reported value can be accurate to its source and still differ from another company's figure because reporting periods, organisational boundaries, consolidation approaches and Scope 2 methods vary.

Greenfolio is an educational sustainability and market-data terminal designed for Indian learners and investors. It brings market information and annual company climate disclosures into a professional trading-desk interface, together with portfolio modelling and educational carbon-market tools.
Our mission is to make sustainable-finance concepts easier to understand for everyday investors and businesses in India. The platform is transparent by design: provider-supplied market prices are distinguished from annual company-reported disclosures, and unavailable values are never replaced with invented ones.

Transparent data
Market prices are labelled Live only when the server feed is connected. Company-reported emissions include their period, accounting basis, boundary, assurance note and original source. Greenfolio does not publish synthetic ESG ratings.
Educational by purpose
Greenfolio helps students, first-time investors and smaller businesses learn. It is not a broker, exchange, investment adviser or research analyst.
Core platform features
- Stock & Carbon-Disclosure Screener: Screen the expanded NSE-listed universe using market information and annual company-reported Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. Every carbon record identifies its reporting period, accounting basis and original source. Unsourced ESG ratings, CDP grades, SBTi statuses and net-zero target years are not displayed.
- Portfolio Carbon Disclosure View: Add stocks, set portfolio weights and follow notional value and market movement. The tool also shows the share of the portfolio covered by sourced disclosures and a descriptive weighted company-emissions figure. This is not financed-emissions accounting, a carbon-neutrality claim or an offset-cost calculation.
- Carbon & EPR Credit Desk: The interface supports visitor-submitted discovery listings, but Greenfolio publishes no fictional sample sellers, buyers or prices. Any submitted listing remains unverified, local to the visitor's browser and must be independently checked.
- Household Carbon Footprint Calculator: Estimate a household's yearly footprint from electricity, road travel, flights and diet, compare it with the India per-person average, and see the offset cost at a carbon-credit price you choose. Every factor and its source is shown; the result is an educational estimate, not an audited footprint.

Stock prices come from Greenfolio's server-side market-data feed. Provider delays can apply, and the feed is not exchange-certified for trade execution. Scope 1 and Scope 2 figures are annual company-reported values transcribed from linked annual, BRSR or sustainability disclosures; they are not real-time or independently measured by Greenfolio. Synthetic ESG ratings and fictional marketplace listings are not published.
The Carbon & EPR Credit Desk is for discovery only. Greenfolio does not verify listings or counterparties, hold funds, facilitate trades, issue credits or guarantee regulatory compliance.

He saw that ESG scores, emissions data and carbon-market concepts are often hidden behind institutional platforms, paywalls and complex language. Greenfolio was created to bring these ideas together in one understandable place for ordinary citizens.

Greenfolio is built for students, first-time investors and small businesses, especially the growing community of market participants and enterprises in India's tier 2 and tier 3 cities. It remains a work in progress and will continue to be refined as an educational tool people can rely on.
